Job Description

The Gananda High School Health & Physical Education Teacher fosters an inclusive, engaging learning environment aligned with Gananda CSD’s mission “to inspire each student to achieve lifelong success” and its vision of a vibrant community where every learner matters. This educator designs dynamic, personalized instruction in both Health and Physical Education, promotes wellness, and contributes to a culture of shared pride and high expectations. A central focus of this role is delivering high-quality Parenting and Daily Living (PDL) instruction, equipping students with essential life skills, decision-making strategies, and practical knowledge that supports their growth into healthy, responsible adults.

• Instructional Design: Develop and implement New York State-aligned Health and Physical Education curricula that promote personalized learning, skill development, and lifelong wellness.
• Inclusive Classroom Practices: Foster welcoming and supportive environments where all students feel valued and are encouraged to succeed.
• Student Assessment: Utilize diverse assessment methods to monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and inform instructional strategies.
• Positive School Culture: Demonstrate sportsmanship, respect, and healthy decision-making, contributing to a dynamic and engaging school community.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff to promote student success and uphold the standards of Gananda Schools.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensure a safe learning environment by adhering to New York State Education Department regulations and properly maintaining equipment and facilities.
• Extracurricular Support: Participate in athletics, wellness programs, and student clubs to enhance community engagement and student develop

 

Job Qualifications

• NYS Certification in Physical Education (Initial or Professional).
• Health Education Certification or willingness to obtain appropriate Health certification per NYSED regulations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of NYS Learning Standards for Health and Physical Education.
• Commitment to inclusive practices and personalized learning aligned with Gananda’s mission and vision.
