Job Description

The Gananda Central School District is seeking dependable, student-centered individuals to serve as Per Diem Substitutes across our schools. Per diem substitutes play an essential role in maintaining continuity of learning and ensuring that students experience a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment when regular staff members are absent.

• Provide a safe, supportive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all students.
• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher or supervising staff member.
• Support students in engaging with meaningful, personalized learning experiences.
• Maintain appropriate classroom routines, expectations, and behavior-management practices.
• Foster positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Encourage student participation, perseverance, independence, and academic success.
• Follow school and classroom procedures, including attendance, supervision, safety, and emergency protocols.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.
• Adapt to varying grade levels, instructional settings, student needs, and school environments.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure continuity of instruction and student support.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator or designee.

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or relevant experience preferred depending on assignment.
