Job Description

The Gananda Central School District is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and student-centered Long-Term Substitute Elementary Special Education Teacher. The successful candidate will provide engaging, individualized instruction while maintaining a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. This position plays an important role in ensuring continuity of instruction and supporting students' academic, social, and emotional growth.

• Deliver specially designed instruction aligned with New York State learning standards and students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Implement and monitor IEP goals, accommodations, and individualized learning supports.
• Utilize differentiated instruction, evidence-based strategies, and assessment data to meet diverse student needs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, families, related service providers, and support staff to ensure continuity of student services.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, independence, and success.
• Implement appropriate behavioral supports and instructional interventions.
• Participate in CSE meetings and other student support meetings as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate student records, communicate student progress, and follow District policies and applicable special education requirements.

Job Qualifications

• Valid New York State teaching certification in Students with Disabilities appropriate for the assigned elementary grade levels and teaching responsibilities, or eligibility for the required certification.
• Knowledge of New York State learning standards, special education regulations, and IEP development and implementation.
