Elementary Reading Teacher

Gananda Central School District is looking for an enthusiastic and caring Elementary Reading Teacher to join our team. We are looking for an educator who believes that every child can grow as a reader and who enjoys building strong relationships with students while helping them develop the skills and confidence they need to be successful.

  • Provide targeted reading instruction and intervention to elementary students based on individual learning needs.
  • Use effective, research-based literacy practices to support students’ development in phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and overall reading skills.
  • Use assessment information and student progress to plan instruction and determine appropriate next steps.
  • Monitor student growth and communicate progress with classroom teachers, families, and other appropriate staff.
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to support students’ reading development throughout the school day.
  • Provide instruction that is engaging, appropriately challenging, and responsive to individual students.
  • Create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, and developing confidence as readers.
  • Support students with a range of learning needs and backgrounds through thoughtful differentiation and appropriate instructional strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and intervention services.
  • Communicate regularly and positively with families about student progress and ways they can support literacy development.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional learning, data discussions, and other opportunities to improve student learning.
  • Continue to grow professionally by staying current with effective literacy practices and applying new learning to classroom instruction.
  • Contribute to a positive school culture and the shared work of supporting every student.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by building or district administration.
Starting salary: $49,000–$63,697, based on exp.
.5 FTE: Elementary Math Intervention Teacher

Gananda Central School District is seeking a dedicated .5 FTE Elementary Math Intervention Teacher who believes that every learner matters and flourishes in a community where everyone belongs. Through personalized, data-driven instruction, this educator will provide targeted mathematical support to students requiring additional intervention while collaborating closely with classroom teachers and families to ensure equitable access to high-quality learning experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Targeted Math Instruction: Provide small-group and individualized math intervention using evidence-based practices aligned with NYS Next Generation Learning Standards.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Analyze screening tools, progress-monitoring data, and classroom assessments to identify student needs and adjust instruction.
  • Equitable Access to Supports: Ensure all students have access to intervention services, prioritizing culturally responsive and inclusive practices.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Partner with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to support student growth and two-way communication.
  • Personalized Learning: Design learning experiences that honor student identity, readiness, and learning style.
  • Progress Monitoring: Maintain accurate records, track growth, and communicate results clearly to staff and families.
  • Professional Learning: Engage in ongoing training related to intervention strategies, equity, and Gananda’s portrait of a graduate.
  • School Culture & Community: Contribute to a vibrant, inclusive school community where students feel supported, valued, and empowered.

 

Starting salary: $49,000–$63,697, based on exp.
Elementary Building Substitute

The Elementary Building Substitute provides consistent, high-quality instructional and behavioral support to students and staff by serving as the school's dedicated substitute teacher. This position ensures continuity of learning by maintaining a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment while implementing lesson plans and supporting the daily operations of the elementary school. The Building Substitute is a collaborative team member who demonstrates flexibility, professionalism, and a commitment to fostering student success.

$130 uncertified, $160 certified per work day
